2023 Club Information
For the 2023 club volleyball season, we will be offering 13U, 14U, 15U & 16U boys club volleyball teams.
Coaching staff for each team will be:
13U - Adam Trudeau (Head Coach), Troy Kozun & Jack Mandryk
14U - Soren Eramchuk (Head Coach), Paul Eramchuk & Jack Harrison
15U - Ryan Penner (Head Coach), Talin Thompson

Club Coaches & Staff
Jim has been coaching and giving camps in competitive and developmental volleyball for 36 years. As a head coach Jim has led teams to 5 National Championships in club volleyball, including 1 CIAU university gold medal as the head coach of the University of Manitoba Bison’s in 2000. Jim has also contributed as a head coach to 6 Provincial High School Championships with 11 finalist appearances. Jim is a fully certified level three coach who in 2008 worked as an assistant with the Canadian Men’s Junior National team and traveled to India for the World Junior (21 and under) Volleyball championships. Jim was selected as the Coach of the Year by the Canadian Volleyball Assoc. in 2000 and the Manitoba Volleyball Assoc. In 1997/1999. Jim also was the Manitoba Volleyball Association Volunteer of the Year in 2009. Jim was inducted into the Manitoba Volleyball Hall of Fame in 2013 and Sport Manitoba Hall of Fame in 2014 as well as the MHSAA Hall of Fame.
Jeff Scarcello - Mentor Coach
Jeff is the current Selkirk Royals Varsity Volleyball Coach who has led his teams to 3 MHSAA Finalist finishes and 3 MHSAA Championships in the past 7 years. Jeff is a physical education teacher at Lord Selkirk Regional and has an extensive background as a player and coach in Manitoba. Jeff was a setter with the University of Winnipeg for three years and has been a midget Provincial Team Coach with VM in 2005 where they finished second at National Elites. This is Jeff’s 17th year coaching club volleyball in the Selkirk Royals Program and he has led the 16U Royals in 2008 & and 15U Royals in 2016 to VM Provincial Championships. He is a fully certified Level 2 coach. Jeff’s varsity boys are consistently one of the top ranked teams in the province.
Richard Hodges - Royals Accountant
Richard is a parent alumnus of Royals Volleyball, both High School and Club, both boys and girls with 3 AAAA volleyball championships to our family's credit. He believes that the Royals volleyball program provides a great opportunity for our kids to grow and develop not only in the sport but also in life. He is proud to be part of this organization and give back to a Club that has provided many worthwhile opportunities. He has been involved with organized sports coaching hockey and soccer, managing hockey and lacrosse teams and many volleyball and basketball canteens. His volleyball career consists of recreational playing and scorekeeping at the National Championships.
Mark Doornbos- 16U Head Coach
Mark has played volleyball at many different levels and has coached volleyball for several years. Mark has his Volleyball Canada Coaching Certification. From 2015 – 2019, he has coached his high school teams to four provincial medals. Most recently, Mark was head coach of the Calvin Christian Collegiate Varsity Girls and his team attained the school's first provincial medal within the girls program. In his past four club seasons, he has coached girls and boys teams with the highlight being a 5th place finish in Division 1 Tier 1 in 2015 with his 15U boys team. Many players he has coached continued their volleyball career within University/College. He currently assists with coaching the Royals Varsity Boys team. He looks forward to working with the 16U boys in the 2023 club season.
Jack Mandryk - 13U Assistant Coach
Jack played for the Royals Volleyball Club for his 14U, 15U and 16U seasons. He played JV and varsity in Selkirk, won the High School Provincial Championship in his grade 12 year. Currently he is playing in his 4th year for the University of Manitoba Bisons Men's Volleyball team.
Wade Drzystek - 16U Assistant Coach
Wade played for the Royals Club and School teams from 1995-1997 competing in provincial and national tournaments throughout his playing career, including a semi-finalist finish in the MHSAA provincials in his graduating year. After graduation he continued to play a high level of volleyball in the Winnipeg Men’s League Div 2/3 until 2013. Wade continued to support the Royals as an Assistant Coach of the school Junior Varsity team, Club 15U and 13U teams from 1999-2001. He co-coached the Grade 8 boys volleyball team at Stanley Knowles School in Winnipeg from 2006-2011 leading them to a Divisional Championship and a Provincial Runner-up finish. Most recently Wade has co-coached the ESMS Hawks Gr. 7 team in 2019 and the Gr.9 team in 2021 and is very happy to be returning to the Royals organization this year.
Troy Kozun - 15U Assistant Coach
Troy played volleyball in the Royals club system for 4 years from 2012-2015 and the school team for 3 years from 2014-2016. In his career he has primarily been right side and defensive replacement. In 2016 he was part of the team that won the MHSAA Varsity Volleyball Championship. Troy is currently working towards his Bachelor of Arts in Geography at the University of Manitoba.
Troy Kozun - 13U Assistant Coach
Troy played volleyball in the Royals club system for 4 years from 2012-2015 and the school team for 3 years from 2014-2016. In his career he has primarily been right side and defensive replacement. In 2016 he was part of the team that won the MHSAA AAAA Varsity Boys Volleyball Championship. Troy is currently working towards his Bachelor of Education at the University of Manitoba.
Adam Trudeau - 13U Head Coach
Adam played club for the Royals Volleyball Club from 2014-2017. He played JV and Varsity in Selkirk and won the JV Provincial Championship and later the Varsity Provincial Championship in his Gr. 11 season. He is currently taking the Civil Engineering Technology program at Red River College. Adam has been coaching in the program since 2019.
Shawn Scarcello - Coach
Shawn played for the University of Winnipeg Wesmen from 1999-2004, including as team captain from 2001-2004, and has experience coaching at all levels, from entry level summer camp programs to elite under 18 and under 21 University Club teams competing nationally.
Paul Eramchuk - 14U Assistant Coach
Paul is a Royals alumni from way back. He has benefited from being coached by some great coaches and has lots of experience as a player and as a coach to draw from. He is excited to coach this new crop of Royals athletes and is looking forward to a fun year.
Soren Eramchuk - 14U Head Coach
Soren played volleyball from 2016 to 2021 and is a JV and Varsity alumni at Selkirk. He has coached several grade 7-9 volleyball teams and is entering his second year as a coach for Royals club. Currently, he is studying neuroscience at University of Winnipeg.
Jack Harrison - 14U Assistant Coach
Jack played volleyball for the Selkirk Royals club program from 2013 - 2016, while also playing for the school team that won MHSAA AAAA Provincial Championships in 2016, 2017, and 2018. After graduation he played one season at Camosun College in Victoria, B.C.
Lucas Brzoza - 16U Assistant Coach
Ryan Penner - 15U Head Coach
Ryan played Royals Varsity Volleyball from 2003-2005 where he was chosen as a graduating all-star in 2005. He played his 18U Juvenile volleyball as Libero with the Bison volleyball club. Ryan went on to be an assistant coach for the University of Manitoba Women’s volleyball team from 2006-2008. Ryan has coaching experience at the University, Varsity, Junior Varsity, and Provincial team level and is a fully certified Level 2 coach. Ryan was an assistant coach in 2016 with the Manitoba 18U Men’s Canada Summer Games team. He is currently the Head Coach of the Junior Varsity Royals. As a Royals coach Ryan has won 4 MHSAA provincial championships and 2 VM club provincial championships.
Talin Thompson - 15U Assistant Coach
I have always had a great experience being a part of the Royals volleyball program. Growing up a Royal gained me many titles including National Finalist, Provincial Champion, and now coach. I am very proud of my team and individual achievements while playing for the Royals and hope I can help guide our future players to great success.
